二、电子资源介绍：
Empire Online（《帝国在线》）由英国著名的学术出版公司Adam Matthew Publications出版。成立于1990年的AMP公司以出版原始手稿、珍稀图书与其他原始资料著称，目前的出版项目超过500个，其资源主要来自欧洲、北美、非洲与澳大利亚的图书馆与档案馆，根据学者与研究图书馆的需要提供历史学、人类学与社会科学领域中众多方面的主题。

《帝国在线》收录了来自世界各大图书馆和档案馆中大约70,000幅原始手稿和印刷品图像，时间跨越1492－2006年，是供学术机构、研究人员、研究生和大学本科生探索英帝国历史、政治、文化和社会的新型电子出版项目。数据库提供对图像中的文字进行全文检索的功能，并提供了权威学者的评论性文章以及内嵌了与文档内容密切相关的超链接。资料库中的图像均为PDF格式，易于操作和打印，同时便于读者浏览每一篇文档的细节。
